Online Bullying Prevention, Character & Cultural Education Curriculum
(Civility, Compassion & Cultural Curriculum, K-8) is an online, literacy-based K-8 curriculum that utilizes videos and interactive lessons and assessments designed to teach students how to identify and address acts of harassment, intimidation and bullying, conflict, aggression and incivility.
As a literacy-based curriculum, C3’s characters “grow” with your students as they journey through grades K-8 with the C3 characters as they experience developmentally typical situational story lines in an effort to provide your students with real-world learning experiences.
C3 starts each year with a foundational lesson that teaches students and staff a common language for identifying, communicating and reporting problematic behaviors using a color-coded system that does not use the “B” word (bullying) and that emphasizes identifying forms of aggression without labeling students as “bullies and victims.” As equally important, C3 teaches personal advocacy skills, non-violent responses to aggression and conflict, healthy coping mechanisms for psycho-social manipulation, compassion and empathy.
C3 is aligned to instructional standards for language arts literacy,
health education and the American School Counselors Association which enables districts to implement the program across multiple disciplines.
Many educational and community leaders believe that incivility among our adult population is on the rise and detrimental to the social and emotional development of our children. Research indicates links between deficits in social-emotional learning and academic achievement among K-12 students. Conversely, numerous research reports show that social and emotional learning can have a positive impact on students’ academic performance.
